CBL’s First Long Beach Gives Campaign Raises $14,150 and Expands Community Reach

Children’s Benefit League exceeds its inaugural $2,500 goal while engaging 114 donors and building new connections throughout Long Beach.

Children’s Benefit League of Long Beach marked an exciting milestone in September with its first-ever participation in Long Beach Gives, a citywide campaign bringing

together nonprofits, businesses, donors, and community members in support of local causes.

CBL entered the campaign with an initial fundraising goal of $2,500. By the close of the campaign, supporters had contributed an extraordinary $14,150—more than five times the original goal.

The campaign also generated meaningful participation from throughout the CBL community. Eleven individual fundraising campaigns were created on behalf of CBL, helping members introduce the organization and its mission to their own friends, families, colleagues, and networks.

In total, 114 individual donors contributed to CBL’s campaign. Among the 97 organizations participating in the medium-size nonprofit category, CBL ranked #20 for total dollars raised and an impressive #5 for unique donors.

But the impact of CBL’s first Long Beach Gives experience extended well beyond dollars raised.

Throughout the campaign, CBL members participated in Long Beach Gives community activities, including Long Beach Gives Live, where CBL hosted a booth and a homemade lemonade stand run by children who helped make and serve the lemonade. The experience offered a fun and meaningful way for the next generation to participate in philanthropy, service, and community involvement.

CBL also attended Long Beach Gives gatherings and a Long Beach City Council meeting connected with the campaign, creating opportunities to meet other nonprofit leaders, reconnect with community partners, and introduce more people to the work of Children’s Benefit League.

The campaign resulted in several important accomplishments:

  • $14,150 raised against an original $2,500 goal

  • 114 donors

  • 11 personal fundraising campaigns

  • #20 in dollars raised among 97 medium-size participating nonprofits

  • #5 in unique donors

  • New relationships with fellow nonprofits and community supporters

  • Greater visibility for CBL throughout Long Beach

  • Increased awareness of the local organizations and services CBL helps support

  • Meaningful opportunities for CBL members and their families to participate together in community service

For CBL, the campaign became about more than fundraising. It provided an opportunity to tell the organization’s story, strengthen relationships, introduce new people to its mission, and demonstrate what can happen when a community comes together around children and families.

The success of this inaugural campaign would not have been possible without the generosity of CBL’s donors, members, matching-gift supporters, friends, families, and community partners.

To everyone who donated, shared a post, created a personal campaign, visited the CBL booth, served lemonade, attended an event, or helped spread the word—thank you.

This may have been CBL’s first Long Beach Gives campaign, but the response demonstrated the power of a community united by a shared purpose.
