It Began With Five Women.
From hospital playrooms to whole-child community care, Children’s Benefit League has helped generations of Long Beach children heal, grow, and thrive.
For nearly 80 years, Children’s Benefit League of Long Beach has remained dedicated to supporting medically vulnerable children and families throughout Greater Long Beach.

What began with women volunteers bringing comfort to hospitalized children has grown into a trusted legacy of fundraising, service, and community partnership.

Eight Decades of Impact
1946
1950's
CBL is Born
Five women unite around a shared vision to help children in need in Long Beach.
CBL supports Community Hospital through playrooms, children's toys, recreation programs, post-polio rehabilitation support and pediatric care resources.
Focus on Community Hospital
1960's
Impact is expanded helping children and families access emotional and mental health services, along with supporting children with hearing loss.
Expanding Community Care
1960's
1970's
CBL contributes to the opening of a 12-bed pediatric unit, helping strengthen pediatric healthcare resources in Long Beach.
Continuing the Impact
1990's
CBL expands its mission to include children and individuals with developmental and physical disabilites.
